Pennsylvania Chooses January 8 (1/8) As Donate Life Day (#PADonorDay)

Pennsylvania issued their first #DonorDay on January 8, 2020. Also called PA Donor Day or by its hashtag #PADonor Day.

what’s the date and its objective?
January 8 was chosen as the date for the first PA Donor Day. The date 1/8 was chosen because 1 donor can save 8 lives.

This day not only promotes organ donation, but educates the public why it’s important. It also debunks any myths and fears a potential donor candidate may have. Organ transplant and education centers use this day to recruit new organ donor sign ups by holding and hosting donor sign up events.

If you couldn’t attend but still want to sign up as a potential donor?
Simply start a conversation with your PCP or with your local transplant center. You can also sign up at your local DMV by selecting YES to donate when you sign up or renew your driver’s license or state ID.

What organs can be donated?
Organs that can be donated:

    Heart
    Lungs
    Liver
    Kidneys
    Pancreas
    Intestines

Who can donate?
You must:

  • Be between 18-55 years old.
  • Be in good general health.
  • Have a selfless need to want to donate.
