Review: Betty Crocker Brownie Maker & Snack Factory

I bought this brownie/bar maker from Betty Crocker a while back. My mother bought a Holstein Housewares 6 cavity cupcake/muffin maker on Black Friday.

These machines allow you to make 18 same size 1 inch treats with a 1 inch thickness (6 at a time). It’s nice because you don’t need an oven. Plus it bakes and cools baked goods very quickly.

How it works:
You simply pour batter into each cavity. Next close down the lid and allow it to bake between 8 and 10 minutes depending on batter. Once done, you lift lid and pop out brownies and start over. You’ll be repeating this until you run out of batter.

For us we repeated the steps two times after first batch. We also used a better bottle to pour batter into each cavity.

These came out really well. Won’t be using an oven for cupcakes, muffins or brownies anymore. Because I don’t know the lifespan of these machines, I highly suggest you don’t throw out your brownie and cupcake cavity pants. There are certain desserts that require coolingir firming inside pan before removal. Unfortunately with these machines you have to remove finished treats right away.

What I liked:
Bakes 18 same size 1″ brownies, cakes, cookie bars or bread loafs with 1″ thickness

Removed treats come out with thick smooth crispy edges

Easy to use

Easy to clean

Easy to remove once baked

Quick baking (between 8-10 minutes)

Quick cooling once removed (use a silicone desert lifter for removal)

No need for an oven

Folds for easy storage

Portable for travel

What I didn’t like:
No audible beep to alert those with vision issues when baked items are done.

Only has 6 1 iinch cavities with a 1 inch thickness. It should be 18 1 inch cavities with a 1 inch thickness.

What needs changed:
An audible beep to alert those with vision issues when baked items are done. Especially if using for the first time. What I did: I set up a stopwatch on my phone to track the first batch. With my batch: it only took 8 minutes. But that was for brownies. It might take longer for other types of batter such as cookies, cakes, breads. It depends on the thickness of better.

Only has 6 1 iinch cavities with a 1 inch thickness. It should be 18 1 inch cavities with a 1 inch thickness. While we were OK with baking 6 brownies at a time, it would’ve been a lot easier if there were 18 cavities. Especially if you’re in a rush and you need one dozen or more Ttreats/desserts fast.

Interchangeable plates. This only contains square shaped cavities. It would’ve been nice if it came with a cupcake plate. That end different size cavity plates. For example if you want one giant dessert or smaller size desserts you have that option. Some people want larger or bite size portions However the 1 inch brownies I made were the perfect size for me. Wilton has both giant brownie pan as well as a 12 and 24 cavity pan.

A storage case. Especially if it comes with additional parts such as interchangeable plates. Mine came with an instruction manual and a small plastic dessert lifter.

Star Rating
4 out of 5 stars.
Would have given 5 stars had it had an audio becon to alert when done.

Also it’s 6 cavities instead of 18.
